The International Christian Youth exchange,In addition to sending two qualified teachers as volunteers for the next school year, has promised to send a qualified nurse as well.
February 2000
Arrangements are being made to offer courses in Conflict Resolution during the summer break in August. These short courses will be for staff, parents, members of the community, students. There are techniques which can be learned which are alternatives to violence.
The students from Princeton who helped with our library last year plan to return this summer. One of them will stay for an entire year, helping with the teaching of biology.
March 2000
A remarkable storm blew our brand new roof off, leaving five classrooms open to the elements. Some machines were damaged and many classroom materials were lost, included thousands of newly printed notebooks. We are now putting on a new roof and working to replace the lost materials and equipment.

April 2000
Jordan Provost, a professional photographer, has agreed to provide instruction in photography and art for our students beginning this summer..Jordan is currently assembling a variety of photographic materials, many of them donated, to bring with to Ghana with her.
2 May 2000
The World Association of Former United Nations Interenes and Fellows, Inc. (WAFUNIF) donated a computer to our school.
WAFUNIF has begun a project whose purpose is to increase awareness of our school, and the role of the United Nations in helping to build a better world for the young generations.
Poems written by children in the school are to be published with the tilte: Poems for the Future: Voices of African Children. All proceeds will benefit the school and its academic programs.

Lewis Greenstein, Dean of the Friends World College Program of Long Island University visited our school together with his wife.

Monica Westin, originally from Sweden, is one of the strongest supporters of our school. A registered nurse wishing to be of service, she is enthusiastic about addressing the spread of AIDS. She made a presentation which 150 of our parents attended. She is expanding the AIDS awareness program based at John William Montessori School and has created informative brochures with age appropriate information beginning with kindergarten.

The Dinner Dance at Christ Church-United Methodist, Park Avenue, New York produced enough funds to pay for the repair of our roof.
21 June 2000
The Hempstead Long Island School District donated several computers to our school.
6 August 2000
Our third anniversary is celebrated. There were speaches and the students read their poetry, put on a play, danced, sang and drummed.
7-24 August 2000
The Alternatives to Violence Program for Conflict Resolution is introduced to Ghana with three weeks of training offered at John William Montessori School by faciliatators from The Netherlands, Nigeria, Togo and the USA.

17 August 2000
JWMS receives a donation of school supplies from the Friends Community School in Maryland, presented by Rachel Avery Harrison.
27 August 2000
Fabkom, Inc. donates to our school seventy 486 computers ready to be to be networked. When funds were found, these machines were shipped to Ghana in October 2000 and arrived at our school 17 April 2001.
