Computers at Our School
We have been using computers and the Internet since shortly after the school was founded.
In those days we had a dial-up Internet connection and had to share the telephone line with others at the school.
In April 2001, computer use surged after seventy computers donated by Fabkom, Inc. arrived.
In 2004, construction of our radio tower was completed. This meant we could have continuous access by way of a radio link and did not have to depend upon a shared telephone line.
Since 2005, Non-profit Computing, Inc. has arranged for many companies and individuals to donate computers and related equipment to our school. We were especially happy to receive network switching equipment which has greatly improved our network. Friends of John William Education Center has helped arrange for the donations to be collected and transported to our school.
The development of our network would not have been possible without Evan Taylor's kind donation of his services. Evan is spending the academic year at our school and has configured our network into one of the best at any school in Ghana.
